That’s a great story Julia and I’m so glad that the big move worked for you and Colin.

My parents did something similar in the 1970’s, buying a semi-derelict farmhouse in Lot et Garonne. This was long before Peter Mayle’s book sparked the great influx of nouveaux riches to Provence and the Luberon.

We were the nouveaux pauvres but my sisters were lucky enough to grow up effectively bilingual (I’d already left home and gone to university, so I missed out on that) and my youngest sister now lives down the road from you, in Cordes sur Ciel. If you’re ever heading towards Toulouse, let me know and I’ll put you in touch.

Bon courage!

It is heartwarming to read of life change and success (however that presents itself) from a low financial place. I need your inspiration to do something with what is left of my life (lots hopefully at 59!), living in France already but broke as a pauper does not inspire motivation at present. Things. Must. Change. Keep telling us your honest tale pretty please 😊
